The Wedding Theater featured on The Knot!

Recently The Wedding Theater collaborated with the one, the only, The Knot.  No introduction needed,  The Knot is one of the most popular wedding planning hubs with it’s renowned magazine and website.  Working with some members from The Knot, we created several web videos which highlight some of the most premiere wedding venues and services Austin has to offer, such as:  Coco Paloma Desserts, The Driskill, Laguna Gloria, Vista West Ranch, and Petal Pushers.  If you haven’t seen them yet, they’re definitely worth a look.

While we love shooting weddings, we also enjoy taking advantage of any commercial opportunities that may come along, like working with The Knot and other wedding vendors.  The wedding community is pretty close knit and aside from networking with other vendors, we help each other out, even if it’s just means creating a video highlighting their services.  We at The Wedding Theater are committed to couples looking for the best wedding vendors and are always striving to contribute to the wedding community to help make it better and more stress-free for you.

Leslie+Frank – Smith Family Chapel / The Driskill Wedding Trailer

cinematic wedding films austinLeslie and Frank were one of our first “Destination” clients booking The Wedding Theater as their videographers for their Austin wedding though their guests were from all over the world.  Their intimate wedding was at the Smith Family Chapel and their exciting reception was held at the Driskill Hotel in Downtown Austin.  The wedding reception included singing from family members, traditional African dances, and much more as the evening told another great love story.

Austin's Finest Wedding Vendors!

Austin Wedding Vendors

Getting married in the Austin area? Well, you have a wide selection of vendors to choose from when planning your wedding. From photographers, caterers, flowers, dresses, planners, and of course, videographers, Austin has some of the finest wedding vendors in the country! Interviewing and hiring all the different types of vendors needed to put on your dream wedding can be a daunting task, but a fun one none-the-less. Having worked with several of the top wedding vendors in the Austin area, here are some of our recommendations.

For photography, which is a lot of times one of the first things on a newly engaged couples mind, Forever photography studio based in Austin is one the best around. They have a really unique blend of an artistic, yet natural style that is second to none. While our other favorite photographer is not an Austin resident, if you are having a Dallas wedding you should take a look at Paige Ogilvie’s website, www.plophotography.squarespace.com. She is one of the hot up-and-comers in the DFW area.

For venues, we have already profiled several in previous articles. A lot of different factors are involved in choosing the venue. How large is your wedding, do you want the wedding and reception at one location, is it an outdoor or indoor wedding? Depending on your preferences and needs, Villa Antonia, Vintage Villas, Red Corral Ranch, Old Glory Ranch, and The Driskill are some of our favorite Austin wedding venues. All of them are great and it would be hard to make a bad choice from that list.

If you are looking to hire someone to gather up the wealth of information and help you make all these decisions, then you should look into hiring a wedding planner. One of our favorites is Cortney Zieky of BZ events. She is the most detailed and organized planner we have worked with and she will make sure that your big day is stress-free!

After the wedding, you are probably going to want to relax for a week or two at some private island far, far away from the chaos that was the planning of the wedding. For that you should call Randy Otts of 2 Getaway Travel, http://www.2getawaytravel.com Randy is one of the best in the business and will help you find your perfect honeymoon spot and save you a few bucks in the process!

Austin Wedding Venues – The Driskill

Austin Wedding Videography Blog The DriskillHello,  my name is Joseph Martinez, and I am a RTF major at UT looking to graduate in the next year.  I landed an exciting internship here with 1023media and The Wedding Theater for the Summer and I wanted to take some time to blog about some of the venues that we film at.  Some of my blogs may be found on http://www.1023films.com as well depending on what location the production company is working.  This week I want to talk about my first experience as a P.A. for The Wedding Theater at the Driskill hotel.  We filmed Sarah + Jared there on Sunday, May 30th and I was a little blown away at the level of detail that was involved in this immaculate venue.

Austin Wedding Venue The Wedding TheaterThe Driskill Hotel, located in downtown Austin, is one of the classiest hotels around and allows for such an extravagant wedding experience.  Built in 1886, The Driskill is a member of The Historic Hotels of America and is managed by Destination Hotels & Resorts.  We were hired as videographers for Sarah and Jared’s wedding which was held at The Driskill and it made our job very interesting.  Filming at a location like The Driskill is such a unique and memorable experience, the only words that come to mind are “elegance” and “luxury.”  From marble floors to balconies that overlook downtown Austin, this hotel has some unbelievable features, not to mention an outstanding staff and great service.  Instead of feeling like an old hotel, The Driskill’s age only adds to it’s class and complements it’s suites, bar & lounge, and café (among other amenities) making it unlike any other hotel.

2010 Austin Wedding Trends (2 of 10)

destination wedding videographerAnother big trend we are seeing from our brides is Austin being a big location for destination weddings. We have booked several clients from out of town, and even out of the country, in the last few months that are having their wedding here in Austin as a destination for their guests. Brides from New York, Seattle, Los Angeles, London, and even as far away as Africa have contacted us about wedding videography for their Austin destination wedding. One of the big appeals to Austin is obviously the weather. While it can get a little warm during the summer, the weather is almost always acceptable for outdoor weddings. Another great thing about Austin as a destination wedding location is that it is unique. There is a certain “feel” to Austin that just cant be found anywhere else in the world. If you have ever watched the sunset at the top of a hill overlooking Lake Travis or been out for a night out on 6th street, you know what I mean. Austin also has several wonderful venues to choose from for your wedding. No matter what your tastes and style are, you can find a place to fit your needs (and your budget!) From lakefront venues like Vintage Villas, Villa Antonia, and Nature’s Point to downtown locations like The Driskill, or even Hill Country style wedding venues like Old Glory Ranch and Red Corral Ranch, there is a wide selection of affordable options.
